Piercing Aftercare

Taking care of your piercing is crucial to ensure proper healing and minimize the risk of infection. follow these steps for optimal aftercare.

1. Clean Hands: before touching your piercing, wash your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap.

2. Cleaning Solution: Use a saline solution cleanser recommended by your piercer. soak a cotton swab with solution and gently clean the area around the piercing, removing any crusted discharge.

3. Avoid Rotating Jewelry: Unlike older advice, rotating your jewelry can disrupt the healing process and lead to irritation. Simply leave it be.

4. Avoid Harsh Products: Stay away from alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or any harsh chemicals, as they can irritate the piercing.

5. Rinse After Activities: After activities like swimming or exercising, rinse the piercing gently with saline solution to remove potential irritants.

6. Avoid Touching: Refrain from playing with or touching your piercing unnecessarily, as this can introduce bacteria and cause irritation.

7. Protect From Makeup and Hair Products: Keep makeup, hair products, and other potential irritants away from the piercing site.

8. Never Clean More Than Twice a Day: Over cleaning can result in irritation.

9. Follow Healing Times: Different piercings have varying healing times. Make sure to adhere to specific healing timeline for your piercing type.

10. Consult A Professional: If you notice excessive redness, swelling, pain or any unusual discharge, consult your piercer or a healthcare professional promptly.

Remember, consistent, gentle care is the key to a successful piercing healing process.

If instructed to use a hot compress, please follow these instructions:

  1. Run very hot water over a clean washcloth.
  2. Ring out excess water from wash cloth.
  3. Fold wash cloth into 4ths and place on the piercing.
  4. Use a heating pad over the washcloth to keep it warm for around 15 minutes repeat this 2 times per day.
